舊首爾站是由曾任東京大學教授的塚本靖所設計，於1922年6月動工，1925年9月竣工。當時這個新建築的興建規模相當浩大，而屋頂的圓頂與獨特的外觀，使之成為當時的一大話題。建材主要採用紅磚，而1樓中央大廳的地板則以花崗岩鋪設，中間的牆採用石材，其他牆壁則以人造石砌成。建築內貴賓室的地板皆以檀木鋪設，2樓還設有西餐廳。光復後，京城站改名為首爾站，並將韓戰時遭毀損的部分重新修復。之後，隨著首爾的快速發展，為承受遽增的客流量，於1960年代又新設了南站與西站，與本站分別區隔使用。2004年1月，新首爾站落成，舊首爾站自此被停用。2011年完成修復工程後，將舊首爾站重新命名為文化站首爾284，成為複合文化空間。1樓中央大廳為公演、展示、活動、咖啡廳等空間，而2樓則作為公演、展示、研討會與會議室等多功能廳使用。

首爾重要無形文化財傳授會館是為了韓國傳統文化的保存與傳承所建立，邀請韓國所指定的重要無形文化財師傅們入住，對弟子傳授技藝及對一般民眾講習。傳統技藝方面有8個財團入駐，除了文化財師傅們將技藝傳授給弟子的課程以及對一般民眾的講習，還有定期的發表公演與國內外邀請公演。工藝方面有12個公坊入駐， 除了文化財師傅們教授課程之外，製作的工藝品也在館內展出。主要的設施包含擁有147個座位的民俗劇場'風流'、2~3樓的常設展示與企劃展示場'傳統工藝館'、販賣重要無形文化財師傅與傳承工藝家作品的展示賣場、會議室、技藝練習室、工藝教育室等。* 開館日 - 1997年11月29日
